The article focuses on the study of La mujer fantástica, a novel by Carmen de Burgos that first appeared as a novela corta in 1923 and was expanded for the Sempere publishing house in 1924. It highlights the general characteristics of Colombine’s narrative style and sheds light on the connections and differences with the artistic currents of the new century. What emerges is the reworking of a number of stylistic techniques favoured by avant-garde movements and the intertextual relationships of the work with other writings by Burgos, particularly regarding the themes of women’s fashion and art. The article underscores the elements that pose greater challenges to the contemporary interpretation and translation of the text, emphasizing the importance of completing the critical study of the entirety of Colombine’s entire corpus.…
